In this particular surgery a piece of scalp resisting baldness is transferred from the head side to the hairline region. The whole process of Skin flap surgery consists of a total number of five steps. At first, a small slit is created along the upper line of the flap determined. After that an expansion balloon is put under the tissue underlying the scalp and the wound is stitched. After this, saline is given to the balloon so that the tissue is stretched. Saline is given for the period of three or, sometimes, four weeks. when the stretching of tissue is complete, a slit is done in the upper two third portion of the flaps. After this it is sutured back to its position.
This is done to effect incision is made which becomes the upper two thirds of the flaps and then is sutured back in place to effect circulation. After a week more or less a same process is done on the lower part of the flap. This particular portion of the flap is raised up. Then it is stitched back to its original place. A piece of hair-containing scalp is removed from the side of the head. However a two inch of it is left connected to the scalp. This is done to permit the flow of blood to that strip of hair and skin. As a result of this a bulging takes place at the base of the flap. Finally this bulging is removed after about a week.
